Capital Levy
The Capital Levy is intended to address emergent needs to renovate and maintain the school districts assets.  The Capital Levy funds key projects that require attention over the next six years, across the district and at every school site. This levy extends the current capital levy two years to address critical needs.  Key projects include the addition of learning spaces to teach a growing student population, expanded and improved student athletic and play areas, replacement of worn-out heating and communication systems, and increased security and energy efficiency in all buildings.

Q:    What will this levy fund?

The Capital Levy will fund critical facility improvements across the district and at every school.  These projects will enhance student learning facilities as we face a growing student population, as well as critical facility infrastructure projects that extend the useful life of our aging school buildings and keep our students safe.

Q:    Does the levy replace an existing levy?

This 6-year levy extends and enhances the Capital Levy approved by voters in 2008. 

Q:    How much will it cost?

This levy will enhance the amount approved by voters in 2008 by $2.3 million in 2011 and $2.47 million in 2012.  Additionally, it extends the length of the levy plus enhancements for four additional years, ending in 2016.  Estimated increase to tax rates in 2011 is estimated at $0.18 per $1,000 of assessed home value or a total of $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed value.  Detailed information on the tax implications of this levy are available in the District Levy Fact Sheet here.
